My father, who is deaf in one ear, listened to loud music in the central artery of the house with an absolute disregard for the rest of his family's ears. Many a morning did I jolt awake to Royal Fireworks or Lully's Te Deum. When we were kids, my sister amp; I hated it. But in In college, I fell hard for Classical Music. It has been a constant in the background of my entire adult life. I listen to Baroque music almost every day, specifically in the morning for maximum pomp amp; in the evening for courtly soiree vibrations. Come over any eve amp; you will certainly hear Carpenter, Lully, amp; others who frequented Louis the Sun King's court on my record player. In this music, one hears Versailles billowing out with visions of dances, intrigues, powder wigs, sumptuous gardens, amp; of course rivers of cognac flowing. Cognac is the spirit that has reigned supreme over all of France since its inception in the 16th century.
