DESCRIPTION
The daughter of Zeus and Metis, Athena was the Greek goddess of wisdom, tactics, and good counsel. Believed to be the protectress of Athens, she was also the goddess of war, understood as the fight to achieve justice. She comes to life in Lladro's workshops thanks to this interpretation in white matte porcelain, decorated with ocher and golden lusters and with metallic whites in an iridescent finish. Accompanying the goddess is her faithful owl, the symbol of wisdom. This bird is portrayed in porcelain in great detail, posing on Athena's shoulder and etched in basrelief on the helmet, bracelet, and leg guards. In addition, the head of Medusa, the gorgon who turned anyone who looked upon her into stone, is etched on the goddess's protective shield.
